Singapore's tripartite framework for industrial relations is often used as a benchmark of excellence by many countries. While this is true, the area that we need to further strengthen in industrial relations is at the bipartite level where two important social partners, namely, workers and their employers, interact constantly at the enterprise and shop floor levels. Hence, it is the area where the greater potential lies for conflicts to arise. Conversely, it is here, too, that the greater potential lies to develop industrial peace, harmony, and justice, so that our enterprises can grow and achieve their visions for growth and excellence in their respective fields of business.
It is with these aims in mind that the OTC Institute set out to work with unions and their managements to strengthen bipartite relations. Our programmes here are customized to the needs of each client and include those that aim to: bring about better understanding of the spirit and practice of our unique brand of industrial relations deepen understanding of the labour laws that provide an essential framework for sustaining good industrial relations articulate shared-industrial relations visions which reflect the appropriate values and practices that enterprises aspire to engender and perpetuate among their people engage union-management relations at a strategic-level to direct attention and to achieve business success through synergistic partnership.
This is not an exhaustive list and by no means sets the limit to the programmes and interventions that we can provide in raising the ante on bipartite relations. We look forward to work with you to address your particular needs for bipartite programmes.
