President Tony Tan Celebrates May Day With Labour Movement - 28 May 2014
President Tony Tan hosted a tea reception for 70 union leaders from NTUC affiliated unions at the Istana on 28 May 2014 as part of the May Day celebrations. Union leaders appreciated the opportunity to share their opinions and concerns, as well as listen to President Tony Tan's views and advice.
In anticipation of the amendment to the Industrial Relations (IR) Act, OTC Institute is rolling out a series of workshopsto equip union leaders with the knowledge and skills to handle PMEs (Professionals, Managers and Executives) issues.
50 union leaders had the chance to learn about the various roles played by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) in Singapore’s Industrial Relations System during the study visit.
Over 150 union leaders and ARU staff engaged in frank and open conversations with Minister Tan Chuan-Jin (Ministry of Manpower), NTUC President Diana Chia and NTUC Secretary-General Lim Swee Say.
